Western Digital WD Livewire Powerline AV Network Kit (WDBABY0000NBK-NESN) Reviews
One of the best items I have purchased for the home. My router/Modem NAS are at one end of the house and my main PC at the other end, and I have been using Wireless to connect for a few years now. The Frustrations of unreliable reception, slow file transfer speeds when transferring big files to from the NAS are all gone with this ingenious device which is so easy to use. Simply plug them into the power points in each room connect a LAN cable into your PC or router, and away it goes! It really was as simple as that! Another advantage of these devices is they are a 4 port hub and have a power-lead, whereas some similar devices are only a single port and plug directly into the wallplug, which can cause access issues on a dual power-point, partially covering the wall plate. I have purchased a second pair of these devices, for the purpose of connecting my home entertainment centre to the Router. (Bluray, HD DVD, Wii Digital STB) all in all, it is very good device which is incredibly easy to set up can be moved anywhere where the house's power circuit reaches. HIGHLY Recommended.

Set it up and forget it. - Howard Losiewicz -
Setup took a couple of attempts to get it to communicate between the two devices. Half an hour later the set up was completed and I don't really understand why it took so many attempts to get them to sync. With the units connected to each other I almost forget what my son looks like. Before the WD Livewire Powerline he was constantly bugging me to reset the router because his tower had problems connecting. Now he does not complain or have connection problems. I love having the extra ports next to my media PC. WD Livewire Powerline is well worth the expense if you have wireless issues.
HD Streaming.. NOT!!! - O.G. CpTHOOK -
I happened to read the small debate over wheather WD's powerline adapter can stream 1080P HD/BD... NO IT CAN'T!!! br /br /There has been no powerline adapter or wireless device created yet that can facilitate such bandwidth speeds. I have the NetGear XAVB1004, and if that one can't do it, WD won't either. Sure you may be able to squeeze out a 720p vid with DD 2.0 stereo here and there, but real HD streaming of 1080P BD videos with uncompressed audio throughout your house from one centralized location (your PC/MAC) is not quite yet a reality. br /br /WD makes great products, and I'm sure this one will work well for anyone who buys it. But B4 you purchase, be aware of it's most helpful uses:br /br /Low bandwidth A/V streaming(netflix, blockbuster, and DVD5/9 streaming with bit-rates under 20-35Mbps)br /br /Seemless file transfers from your PC to any device connected to the network... and between WD Live devices.br /br /For online gamers who play intense shooters like COD and rely on a dedicated wired connection to assist with causing online humiliation..lolbr /br /If you are in need of a wired connection for primitive PC equipment that cannot connect to Wi-Fi.br /br /Bottom Line:br /br /If your main goal is to facilitate HD streaming like this product is advertising, then you may be dissappointed. br /br /R/,br /O.G.
